Sustainability, eco-friendly, ethical... In the past few years these keywords have become more relevant and we hear about it more often. But what really is the issue and what can each of us do? Don't think too hard; start from what you can do in your daily life!

Speaking of getting started... Have you heard of this website?  We’ve talked about them before on our instagram:

Plastic Free July is a campaign led by the Plastic Free Foundation. Each year, millions of people around the globe take the challenge and choose to refuse single-use plastics. Their vision is to see a world without plastic waste. Take a look at some of the great tips they have and let's get started!

We have been consciously adopting a plastic-free life every day, but for this year's Plastic Free July month, we've decided to share our challenges with you; we hope this can inspire more to take the challenge! So here goes, our Plastic Free July Challenge! The challenge period is one month. (Of course, we will continue after July, but the challenge will be shared periodically during July.)

The period for sharing our challenge is one month. There will be 4 challengers.  For the first two weeks (Challenge # 1), everyone will have the same challenge. We will add individual challenges (Challenge #2) for the last 2 weeks!

Challenge # 1:  My cups, my bottles and my bags. It's something we're all already doing, but we must admit that there are times that we accidentally forget bringing our bottles and have to compromise because of certain circumstances. So we're going to go all-out and try this while we lead are normal every day life.  We will share our individual challenge # 2 later on.

Meet the challengers!

Kids representative. Our household "ethical boy!"

Already have an ethical mind set because of influences from his parents, but how much can he enjoy avoiding plastic wrapping for a month, such as favorite bread and sweets! ??

Comment > “I’m aiming to find places that have no plastics wrappers (for breads etc). If they don’t I’m going to ask the store if they have any without!”

#2 RIE

New to sustainable lifestyle.

Borderless Creations Ambassador

Our correspondence started when Rie sent us an email last year, as she wanted to learn more about being sustainable at work and at home.  We hope that this project can give her many tips and hits to continue on!

Comment > “I am going to start from familiar places and challenge myself for a plastic-free life, and will try my best to aim for a plastic-free month with hopes to find new discoveries!"

Borderless Creations Director

Comment > "Every day I struggle with my own battles while trying to be plastic-free. What kind of ideas can I come up with and incorporate while enjoying this challenge? This is the key point for me. Stay tuned!"

Borderless Creations CEO.

Comment > "I aim to be plastic-free as much as possible every day, but of course it's not perfect. Through this challenge, I'd like to share both the struggles and triumphs that can help me in the future!"

We will be sharing our effort and challenges throughout the month, we hope you enjoy them!

Now, of course you don’t have to sign up or to try for the entire month.  But why not take some of the challenges listed below?

During Plastic Free July, why not try one or more all of these?

  • Avoid single-use plastic packaging
  • Target takeaway items (the Top 4: bags, bottles, straws and coffee cups)
  • Go completely plastic-free

Pick a duration for how long you will try

  • 1 Day
  • 1 Week
  • All of July
  • From now on

Let's give it a try!

Don't forget these hashtags if you're sharing your challenge!

It's not easy to aim for being 100% zero waste and that is okay.  Let's give it a try and try what YOU can do.
