A one-year project to enjoy the process of making clothes.

What is “Fuku no Tane” project?

This project is about growing and making your own seeds for clothes; in this case, organic cotton - which is one of the raw materials for making clothes. This project is about learning the manufacturing and the production background from raw materials to clothes through the entire process. This time, the final product will be "canvas sneakers."

Last time we planted the 10 cotton seeds.  How is it looking now after a month?

Day 1 May 21st
Planted 10 cotton seeds

============================

Day 14 June 3rd
1 seed out of 10 has sprouted! No movements for the others.

============================

Day 17 June 6th
4 seeds out of 10 has sprouted! It's interesting to see that the seeds all have different timing of their own.

============================

Day 22 June 11th
The 4 seeds are growing at their own pace.  The others don't seem to be moving at all.  Hard to tell if they will sprout or not.

============================

Day 29 June 18th
2 more seeds have started to sprout!  And our son decided to name the ones that have sprouted.

============================

Day 38 June 28thnd
One month has passed!
Unfortunately the 6th cotton seed, Jesse didn't grow. However the other 5 are still slowly but surely growing!

============================

Once the cotton that have sprouted grows and gets bigger with more leaves, they will be moved to a bigger planter.
Hopefully at the next blog we can show how the cotton leaves in the planter is growing but alas we can never really predict nature...  Stay tuned!
