When we think about recycling, we often focus on plastic bottles or paper. But what about reusable stainless steel bottles?
Tiger Corporation, a Japanese manufacturer known for its vacuum-insulated bottles and thermal technology, is proving that even these durable products can have a second life.
Since launching its stainless steel bottle collection and recycling program in 2021, Tiger has collected more than 287,000 used stainless steel bottles across Japan. In the past year alone, the company recovered approximately 142,000 bottles, with collection points expanding to 515 locations nationwide.
One of the best parts of this initiative is that used bottles from any brand are accepted. After collection, the bottles are carefully separated into stainless steel and plastic components, allowing each material to be recycled into new raw materials for future products.
This is a great example of circular economy thinking in action. Rather than letting valuable materials go to waste, Tiger is helping keep resources in circulation and reducing the need for virgin materials.
It's encouraging to see companies investing in systems that make recycling easier for consumers while extending the life of valuable resources. We hope to see more initiatives like this around the world.
If you live in Japan, have you come across this program or used one of the collection points?
If you're outside Japan, are there similar initiatives where you live?
We'd love to hear about them in the comments!
