Hello!
I'm Saki, a Borderless Creations Ambassador! Today, I’d love to share a Native American saying I recently came across.

When you think of Native American wisdom, what comes to mind?

Many of you might recall this beautiful quote:

"We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children."

This simple yet profound line reminds us to live in a way that ensures we can return the Earth’s natural gifts to future generations, just as we received them.

Recently, I encountered another piece of Native American wisdom that struck me even more deeply:

"In every deliberation, we must consider the impact on the seventh generation."

Every choice we make—whether in our daily lives, politics, or family—should be guided by how it will affect people seven generations from now.

Reading this, I felt as if a lightning had struck me.

Are we living for "now" and "ourselves" alone?

Reflecting on my own life, I realized how often my decisions have been centered around the present moment or my family:

What to eat, where to live, what things to buy.

But looking deeper, many of those choices were made only for "now" and "myself."

This mindset, I realized, is at the very root of our culture of mass consumption and capitalism.

What can we do today for the world 7 generations from now?

In 7 generations time, I won’t be here.

But the choices I make today will ripple forward into that distant future.

When I imagine the future on that scale, I realize I want to live not just for myself, but for the lives yet to come. That is the true meaning, purpose of life, at least, for me.

In nature, plants and animals pass life from one generation to the next, endlessly.Humans, too, are meant to carry forward life and abundance to those who come after us.

Yet today, our "live for the now" mentality is causing soil to erode, clean water to vanish, and even the air to require artificial purification.

What kind of world do we want to leave for the children seven generations from now?

Here’s the future I dream of:

・Lush, vibrant nature

・Thriving local cultures

・Communities rooted in connection

・People empowered to live self-sufficiently and joyfully

When I picture this future, I realize the actions we need to take aren’t complicated at all.
Building the future starts small and slow.

Simplicity and going Slow is the key?

・Growing Green and supporting those who protects Green.
・Treasure local cultures and heirloom vegetables
・Nurture community bonds starting with a simple daily greeting
・Make eco-friendly choices a natural part of everyday life

They’re small steps—tiny, even. Maybe it might seem too slow.
But I’m convinced these small seeds are what will grow into real change for the future.
