MEAT FREE MONDAY
Have you ever heard of Meat Free Monday? Meat Free Monday is an activity advocated by Paul McCartney. As the name implies, it is an activity to set a day in the week when you don't eat meat or other animal foods.
Why is this important?
Answers are ↓
- It can take 30 bathtubs of water to produce just one beef burger.
- An area of rainforest the size of a hundred football pitches is cut down every hour to create room for grazing cattle.
- Almost a third of all land on Earth is used for livestock production.
Animal agriculture creates vast amounts of harmful greenhouse gases and it depletes precious resources – land, water and energy. It is also a major contributor towards climate change. This is why Meat Free Monday thinks why one day a week can make a world of difference.
How about trying it out once a week? Listen to the video of Paul McCartney explaining about Meat Free Monday. And learn more about the initiative at : https://meatfreemondays.com/
Of course Meat Free Monday doesn't mean all you can eat are vegetables. Be creative! Try out soy meats and other meat alternatives. How about swapping the milk you put in your coffee to a plant based milk? There are more varieties of alternatives now but for beginners we definitely recommend using soy meats for LOVEG series. How about replacing the mince meat in your meat sauce pasta to a minced soy meat? Give it a try!
