Do you like free samples?

To be honest, sometimes I'm glad to receive them, and other times I don't want them. In my family, we often don't take them because we end up throwing away the ones we don't want.

I was thinking that these things should be given only to those who want them, and that is exactly what is happening in France, where free samples of certain products are being regulated.

This change is part of the Anti-Waste Law that began in 2020 and aims to reduce the number of unused samples that are discarded and cannot be recycled; it is being applied and implemented by a decree announced on April 23, 2024.

As a result, the free samples that used to be automatically given to customers will be discontinued, and they will have to offer themselves in order to receive them.

According to the article, this applies mainly to creams and other beauty products, or sachets and containers of perfumes and cosmetics. This does not include food products such as those offered in supermarkets, which are not pre-packaged and given away for free on the spot.

Free samples are certainly effective in getting people to try new products., but I think it is a very good policy to explain the product in the store and give it to people who really want it, rather than giving them to an unspecified number of people.
